Holiday Bowl
As part of our commitment to San Diego, Bridgepoint Education is proud to be the title sponsor of the Holiday Bowl. The Bridgepoint Education Holiday Bowl was established in 1978 and is a non-profit organization whose mission is to generate tourism, exposure, economic benefit and civic pride for San Diego and its citizens by producing the nation's most exciting bowl game and festival of events. $1 for every Holiday Bowl ticket sold will be donated to Freedom Station, a non-profit organization that provides help to military heroes in transition. Bridgepoint Education is making a difference and caring for our communities.
After-School All-Stars
The mission of After-School All-Stars (ASAS) is to provide comprehensive, free after-school programs for underprivileged children to keep them safe and to help them achieve in school and in life. ASAS programs provide opportunities for building self-esteem, confidence, and responsibility through structured, educational, and positive activities that divert energy into meaningful, worthwhile behaviors. ASAS programs combine academic support, engaging enrichment activities, and health and fitness programs to improve students' overall performance. ASAS is committed to preparing our children for the future.
Big Brothers Big Sisters of San Diego County
Bridgepoint Education is proud to sponsor Operation Bigs, which provides mentors to children of military families through Big Brothers Big Sisters' School/Site-Based program. This program joins children of parents in the military with "Bigs" who are in the military, ROTC, or a military school. Bigs provide the kind of quality, one-to-one friendship and time that is so important to a child whose parent is deployed, will soon deploy, or is just returning from deployment.
Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater San Diego
The second largest Boys & Girls Clubs in California, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater San Diego is a non-profit organization that reaches out to kids between the ages of five and eighteen who need a safe place to go after school. Currently, Bridgepoint Education assists elementary and middle school students from 17 clubs with the online Kids Page.
Freedom Station
The mission of Freedom Station is to add comfort to the recovering injured and disabled military heroes who are medically retired or discharged from all branches of the service. Ashford University is the proud sponsor of Freedom Station’s Silver Star Cottage, one of the eight cottages and four apartment units available to the injured heroes in San Diego, California. These facilities offer temporary lodging as servicemembers go through their recovery and transition to civilian life.
Homefront Heroes Scholarship Program
Ashford University is a proud supporter of our nation's men and women in uniform as well as their spouses. The strength and support military spouses provide to our nation's service members is recognized through the Ashford University Homefront Heroes scholarship program. In collaboration with Cox Communications, Ashford offers five scholarship opportunities annually to San Diego military spouses at both the Associate's and Bachelor's degree levels.
Junior Achievement
Junior Achievement prepares students for economic achievement and success through its local in-school and hands-on programs. Bridgepoint Education is proud to sponsor Junior Achievement's annual "Teachers for a Day" program. Once a year, our employees volunteer their workday at a local elementary school teaching kindergarten through fifth-grade classrooms. The event provides volunteers with the opportunity to work with students firsthand, allowing them to experience the challenges and joys of being a teacher — if only for a few hours.
Kids Included Together
Kids Included Together (KIT) is devoted to providing children with and without disabilities the same access to recreational and developmental opportunities. As a proud supporter of the Kids Included Together (KIT) "Over the Edge" event, Bridgepoint Education not only contributed monetarily, but also participated in the one-of-a-kind experience which provided a spectacular display of urban rappelling with a positive message of empowerment and inclusion.
Make-A-Wish Foundation
The mission of the Make-A-Wish Foundation is to grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength, and joy. Bridgepoint is honored to grant three wishes each year, as well as participate in various events to help aid Make-A-Wish’s mission.
Operation Homefront
Operation Homefront provides emergency financial and other assistance to the families of service members and wounded warriors. Ashford University selected Operation Homefront as the 2011 Homers for Heroes beneficiary during the 2011 San Diego Padres season. For every homerun hit by a Padres player during a Sunday home game, Ashford University donated $2500 to Operation Homefront.
Padres Reading Corner
Ashford University and the San Diego Padres baseball team are going to bat for literacy. Ashford is the presenting sponsor for the Padres Reading Corner, a campaign designed to promote literacy, education and teamwork among children. Each month, the Padres Reading Corner brings a member of the Padres organization to either a branch of the San Diego Public Library system or an elementary or middle school. The goal is to have local heroes inspire children to discover the joys of reading. In addition to the appearance from a Padres player, the library or school also receives a $1,000 grant from Ashford to assist with the purchase of more books.
Promises2Kids Guardian Scholarship
At Promises2Kids, their mission is to break the cycle of child abuse through prevention, education and advocacy through programs and services that help foster children overcome a traumatic childhood so they can heal, grow, and become successful members of our community. Bridgepoint Education is proud to support Promises2Kids' programs that help children of all ages, from infants to college-bound students, including their Guardian Scholars program.
A Salute To Teachers
Ashford University, an academic institution of Bridgepoint Education, is proud to support A Salute to Teachers. This program is an annual event which serves to identify and recognize those teachers who most effectively represent and symbolize the positive contributions of all California teachers. A Salute to Teachers is the official stepping-stone to the California Teacher of the Year and National Teacher of the Year programs.

San Diego Blood Bank
Bridgepoint Education holds quarterly blood drives on behalf of the San Diego Blood Bank, an independent blood center serving 50 hospitals in the Southern California region.
San Diego Symphony
Bridgepoint Education is proud to have sponsored a $100,000 challenge grant benefiting music education programs of the San Diego Symphony Orchestra. The Symphony's education programs are designed to bring music and music education to thousands of students all over Southern California. Programs include the Young Artist Competition to reward promising young talent, as well as several outreach programs such as Meet a Musician and Interactive Ensemble Performances, which bring classical music to young people in the community.
Teacher Appreciation Scholarship Program
Coordinated by the San Diego County Office of Education (SDCOE) and sponsored in part by Ashford University and Cox Communications, Teacher Appreciation Night is held at Petco Park — home field of the San Diego Padres baseball team. Ashford University, an academic institution of Bridgepoint Education, has been participating in Teacher Appreciation Night since 2006, honoring the local teaching profession by sponsoring four full-ride scholarships for the Master of Arts in Teaching and Learning with Technology degree program to teachers in San Diego County.
